Ghanaian defender Derrick Köhn scored his first goal of the season, but Union Berlin suffered a heavy 4–1 defeat to Werder Bremen at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei in the Bundesliga.
Köhn gave the hosts an early lead in the 18th minute, calmly converting a penalty after a VAR review. However, Bremen quickly turned the game around as Olivier Deman equalised before Jens Stage headed the visitors ahead before halftime.
After the break, Marco Grüll extended Bremen’s advantage, while Patrice Covic added a late fourth to seal a dominant victory.
Despite the defeat, Köhn’s strike marked his first league goal of the 2025/26 Bundesliga campaign. Union Berlin will next face SC Freiburg on March 15.
