AFC Bournemouth manager Gary O'Neil has lauded Ghana international Antoine Semenyo after making his debut for the club last weekend.

Semenyo, who joined Bournemouth from Championship side Bristol City in the just ended transfer window, made his first-ever appearance for the Cherries in their away loss to Brighton and Hove Albion.

The 23-year-old lasted the entire duration as his outfit suffered a 1-0 defeat to Brighton at away.

Despite failing the find the back of the net, O’neil has expressed delight about the performance of the Ghana international.

"They (Semenyo and Traore) did well. Like I said they were part of the reason why we were a threat today. The new boys settled well and Traore was a little tired so I had to change him. I am pleased for those and they deserve some points," he said after the defeat to Brighton.

Semenyo is expected to start when Bournemouth host Newcastle United at the Vitality stadium on Saturday
