The English Championship side on Thursday, November 28, 2024 announced the appointment of the Chelsea legendary midfielder as new head coach until 2027.
Ghana striker Brandon Thomas-Asante will be working with Frank Lampard, who has been appointed as a replacement for Mark Robins, who was sacked after seven years in charge earlier this month.
Former Chelsea and England midfielder Frank Lampard has been appointed head coach of Championship club Coventry City on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
Lampard, 46, takes over with the club 17th in the Championship table, two points above the relegation places.
The Coventry job will be Lampard's fifth in management, following spells at Derby County, Everton, and two stints with Chelsea.
He has worked largely in the media since his last role, as interim manager at Stamford Bridge, ended in May 2023.
Lampard's first match in charge of the Sky Blues will be at home to Cardiff City on Saturday.
“I am delighted that Frank Lampard has agreed to join our club as head coach," said Coventry owner King.
"Frank cut his teeth in the championship and knows what is needed in this league to be successful.
“His experiences thereafter at Chelsea and Everton will ensure he brings to our talented squad a clear understanding of exactly what is needed to succeed at the very top level that we as a club are striving to reach.”
'Brandon Thomas-Asante ready to deliver under Frank Lampard at Coventry City'
Thomas-Asante, who arrived at Coventry City on a four-year deal from Championship rivals West Bromwich Albion, is yet to fit into the Sky Blues' set-up since joining them during the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old center-forward has only scored one goal and provided an assist in 16 appearances for the CBS Arena outfit in the ongoing season's campaign. He netted twice in three EFL Cup games before Coventry City got eliminated by Tottenham Hotspur in the third round.
Brandon Thomas-Asante will be hoping to fit in the set-up of the newly-appointed head coach of Coventry City, Frank Lampard, to find his goal-scoring prowess as he did at Championship rivals West Bromwich Albion.
He is already capped for the senior national team of Ghana when he made a cameo appearance during the Black Stars' 4-3 win during the World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic in June 2024.
