Belgian Jupilier Pro League giants KRC Genk have announced the signing of Ghanaian young attacker Christopher Bonsu Baah in the ongoing summer transfer window.
Bonsu Baah has joined the Belgian top-tier club on a five-year contract from Norwegian Eliteserien outfit Sarpsborg 08 for an undisclosed fee.
The 18-year-old has been tipped for greatness after a scintillating debut season in Norway with Sarpsborg 08 after joining them from Ghanaian lower-tier side Shooting Stars last summer.
The club's official statement reads “KRC Genk has strengthened itself with Christopher Bonsu Baah. The very young Ghanaian (18) is predicted a great future and signs a contract for five seasons”
During his short stay in Norway, Bonsu Baah made 12 appearances and scored one goal with an assist.
He produced the highest number of successful dribbles (57) and created the most chances (10) in the Norwegian Eliteserien last season.
His 59thspot on the Golden Boy Award – a list of the best football players under 21 years old on European fields – his talent fluoresces. His gigantic potential did not go unnoticed.
Bonsu Baah featured on many a scouting list and even enjoyed concrete interest from the Premier League. In the end it was KRC Genk that was able to convince the young winger of the project that the club has drawn up with him.
“I have known the club for some time. When I was little, I played on FIFA with KRC Genk because of players like De Bruyne & Courtois,” Bonsu Baah told the club's official website.
“When I heard about KRC Genk's interest, I didn't hesitate for a second, despite interest from other teams. Being part of the club myself now feels like the right choice at the right time. I can't wait to develop further," he says proudly.
Bonsu Baah will wear jersey number 90 at KRC Genk. He is expected to link up with Joseph Paintsil in the attack of the club this season.
