Brighton & Hove Albion boss Fabian Hürzeler has lavished praises on Ghanaian striker Danny Welbeck after extending his stay at the Falmer Stadium through to the summer of 2027.

The former Mnachester United academy product has proven to be a mainstay figure with the Seagulls since linking up with them in October 2020, with 191 games already taken in across all competitions having netted 48 times and assisting 17 for the entire seven seasons since joining up with them in the Premier League.

Following his impressive output and leadership qualities, the man on the touchline at the  Falmer Stadium has said,''With these types of characters, everything's possible,'' for his side as he is happy to have him in the English top-flight.

He told his club's official website ahead of their Premier League clash with Arsenal: ''With these types of characters, everything's possible. They're top professionals, they are leaders on and off the pitch. They are great role models for all the young players. So let's see what is possible with them.''

He added on his chances of making the England squad for the 2026 World Cup: ''I think another German has to make the decision about that!” All I can say is that he’s definitely a very important player for us and he adds a huge value for every team, especially when it comes to a World Cup squad where it's about togetherness, where it's about being a group. He's just a great connector and I think he definitely deserves to be there, but in the end they'll make the decisions.''

Welbeck is unfit to play for Ghana on the international stage after playing for the England senior national team as he currently boasts of 42 caps with the Three Lions, with 16 goals to his name so far in his international career.
