Black Queens forward Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah stamped her mark on Nottingham Forest with a thunderbolt strike as she netted her first goal for the Reds in a 2-1 Women’s Super League 2 defeat to Crystal Palace at City Ground on Sunday.

The England-born Ghanaian curled a 20-yard shot into the net late in the matchday 3 fixture, giving Forest fans a moment of joy despite the club suffering their first defeat of the season.

Crystal Palace had taken control early. Justine Vanhaevermaet opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a clever lob over Forest goalkeeper Emily Jane Batty, before Kristy Howah doubled the lead from a tight angle in the 32nd minute.

Boye-Hlorkah’s debut goal is expected to boost her hopes of being named in Black Queens coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren’s squad for next month’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Egypt.

Forest will now look to bounce back in their next clash against Portsmouth, as they hope to build on the attacking promise shown by Boye-Hlorkah in her third outing.
