Ex-Ghana international Michael Essien has expressed his excitement after the transfer of Black Stars young attacker Ernest Nuamah to Olympique Lyon.

The 19-year-old sealed a season-long loan move to the French Ligue 1 powerhouse from its affiliate club in the Belgian Jupilier Pro League called RWD Molenbeek.

Nuamah was acquired by RWD Molenbeek from Danish SuperLiga side FC Nordsjaelland for a transfer fee around the region of €30 million this summer.

Essien, who is assistant coach of FC Nordsjaelland, could not hide his joy over the sensational move of Nuamah to Olympique Lyon with a post on his official Instagram account.

The Ghana legendary midfielder featured for Lyon for two seasons where he scored 13 goals in 96 matches before leaving for Chelsea in 2005.

Essien was one of the managers who nurtured Ernest Nuamah at FC Nordsjaelland after rising through the ranks of the famous Right to Dream Academy in 2021.

Nuamah becomes the fourth Ghanaian footballer to arrive at Olympique Lyon after Michael Essien, John Mensah and recently Elisha Owusu.
