Dundee United midfielder Emmanuel Agyei has praised former coach Karim Zito for playing a major role in shaping his career.

The Ghanaian joined Dreams FC in October 2021 and made his competitive debut a month later, coming on as a substitute in a 3–1 away win against Elmina Sharks on November 7, 2021.

Agyei went on to become an important player for Dreams FC, helping the club reach the semi-finals of the 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup. His strong performances during the campaign also earned him a place in the competition’s Team of the Week.

The 21-year-old who is able to play as a defensive midfielder or centre-back says his ability to adapt to different roles came from working under Zito, who often challenged him by playing him in various positions.

“Playing in every position under Coach Karim Zito at Dreams FC shaped my career, and I am truly thankful for the experience,” he told Asempa FM.

Agyei left Dreams FC in 2024 to join Israeli Premier League side Ashdod, where he made 27 appearances over two seasons before moving to Scotland.

Since joining Dundee United, he has quickly settled in, starting seven of his first eight matches for the club and establishing himself as a regular in the team.
