The 29-year-old defender of Ghanaian descent and De Stribede are going their separate ways at the end of the current football season
Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Leeroy Owusu is leaving Danish Superliga side Odense BK after the ongoing 2025-26 campaign, the club have announced.
The former Ajax U17 youth star, whose current deal at the Nature Energy Park expires on June 30, 2026, would not be receiving fresh terms over extension thus bringing his four-year marriage with the Odense-based club to a close at the end of the season.
ln announcing the departure of the Ghanaian defender together with his other five team-mates, the Danish outfit have said via their club's official website: ''At the end of May, we will complete the 2025/2026 season, and in this regard, we will say goodbye to six players. These are Tom Trybull, Bjørn Paulsen, Gustav Grubbe, Leeroy Owusu and Mads Abrahamsen, all of whom have contracts expiring this summer. In addition, Theo Sander is also leaving, returning to FC Copenhagen after his loan spell with the club has ended.
''Before we say goodbye, however, there are still a number of matches to play in the qualifying round, and here every streak counts. Before the season ends, we say goodbye to the six players together, and the club thanks them all for their efforts in the striped jersey. Once Odense. Always Odense.''
Leeroy has so far taken in 30 appearances by netting 2 times and assisting 3 for Odense BK across all competitions in this current 2025-26 football season.
Given his Ghanaian heritage, the Purmerend-born defender still remains fit to represent Ghana on the international stage despite playing for The Netherlands national youth teams.
