Former England striker Michael Owen showered praise on Jordan Ayew following his sensational goal for Crystal Palace against Everton.
Ayew, the Ghana international, broke the deadlock at Goodison Park with a thunderous strike from outside the box in the 60th minute.
Impressed by Ayew's strike, Owen described it as a "wonderful goal," acknowledging the sheer quality and power behind the shot that left Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford with no chance.
“Ayew gets the ball out of his feet and it’s just a wonderful strike from 20 yards out and it’s a lovely strike. There’s nothing much the keeper can do about that. The ball just drops to Ayew and it’s a great strike," Owen commented on the goal.
Despite Ayew's brilliance, Everton managed to salvage a point with a late equalizer from second-half substitute Amadou Onana in the 84th minute.
Ayew, reflecting on his performance, expressed gratitude towards his teammates and emphasized the collective effort, stating, “I thank God and I thank the team for the effort they put in. I don't want to talk too much about my goal, but the most important thing for me is the team, and we're happy to go home with a point."
The goal marked Ayew's third of the campaign, further solidifying his importance to Crystal Palace's season with a total of eight goal contributions so far in the 2023/24 season.
