Huddersfield Town’s 18-year-old forward Cameron Ashia capped a memorable night with a crucial second-half goal as the Terriers edged past Leicester City in a dramatic EFL Cup first-round tie at the Accu Stadium.

The English-Ghanaian prospect impressed from the start, bringing pace and confidence against a Leicester side boasting a dominant head-to-head record. After a goalless first half, Hamza Choudhury fired the Foxes ahead early in the second period, only for Daniel Vost’s towering header to bring Huddersfield level. Harry Winks quickly restored Leicester’s lead, but Ashia struck in the 76th minute — latching onto Murray Wallace’s clever pass before rifling into the top corner.

Ghana captain Jordan Ayew came on for Leicester in the 82nd minute, but the Foxes could not find a winner, and the tie went to penalties after finishing 2-2 in normal time. Huddersfield goalkeeper Lee Nicholls proved the hero in the shootout, saving from both Ayew and Kasey McAteer to secure a 3-2 win.

The victory sends Huddersfield into the next round and gives Ashia the perfect springboard ahead of their Championship clash with QPR on August 16.
