Anderlecht’s Ghanaian-born Belgian winger Francis Amuzu faced another injury setback on Saturday in a match against KV Mechelen.
Amuzu limped off the field after just under an hour of play due to sharp thigh pain, adding to his troubling injury history.
This latest injury follows a challenging season marked by pubalgia and a recent ankle issue during pre-season.
Before his departure, Amuzu made a notable contribution by scoring his first goal of the season. He put Anderlecht ahead 2-1 in the 50th minute with a brilliant strike from a tight angle, assisted by Yari Verschaeren following a corner kick.
Anderlecht went on to secure a 3-1 victory at Veoliastadion Achter De Kazerne. Ludwig Augustinsson scored the equalizer before the break, and Théo Leoni added a late goal to seal the win. Francis Amuzu’s compatriot Majeed Ashimeru remained an unused substitute.
Amuzu’s latest injury raises concerns about his fitness as he had only recently returned to the starting lineup.
