The four-time African champions pursuit of the 21-year-old attacking midfielder has hit a new low after seeing their advances over his nationality allegiance switch halted by the promising youngster

German-born Ghana-target Ilyas Ansah has ruled out the possibility of representing Ghana on the international stage anytime soon, with the Ghana FA told ''As things stand, I won't be going to the World Cup with Ghana," having initiated a move to secure  his nationality allegiance switch ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The talented centre-forward is believed to be among the players in the diaspora being penciled down by the Ghana FA to reinvigorate their squad for the upcoming global football tournament to be co-hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico in June this year.

However, with spells already taken in with the Germany U20 & U21 national youth teams, the Union Berlin attacker says he would make a decision when the UEFA European Under-21 Championship with the Die Mannschaft comes to a close in 2027.

The former SC Paderborn 07 man is quoted to have said by German tabloid Bild-Zeitung over his future at the international team level: ''l ve decided to soak up everything I'm currently experiencing at Union and continue playing for the German U21 team. After the U21 European Championship, I'll look into it next year and make a decision. As things stand, I won't be going to the World Cup with Ghana."
