The Germany U20 international joins the Bundesliga club from SG Dynamo Dresden. Claus Costa: “Kofi is a really exciting player.” Hamburger SV’s first new signing for the 2026/27 season has been confirmed, with Kofi Amoako joining the club. The defensive midfielder makes the move from second-tier side SG Dynamo Dresden.''

Right after inking his deal, Amoako had this to tell his club's official website: ''Claus talked me through HSV’s playing style and won me over. After speaking to the whole coaching team – Merlin, Loic and Richi – I knew for certain that I wanted to play for this club. “I can’t wait for the first home game, because the Volksparkstadion is simply huge!''
sporting director Claus Costa added: ''Kofi is a really exciting player – the combination of his physicality and athleticism, his strength in the tackle and his intensity without possession all fit our playing style extremely well. On top of that, he is good on the ball and tactically flexible. “We’re convinced he will add something to our game, while he also still has plenty of room to develop. We’re delighted to have been able to bring him to HSV.”

Amoako, who enjoyed a productive season this term, took in 33 appearances for Dynamo across all competitions in this just ended 2025-26 football season.
Given his Ghanaian heritage, the Hanover-born youngster remains fit to play for Ghana at the international level despite featuring for the Germany national youth teams.
