German-born Ghanaian youngster Ilyas Ansah was in fine form on Saturday, scoring to help SC Paderborn 07 secure a hard-fought 3-2 away victory against FC Nürnberg in Bundesliga 2.
The 20-year-old attacker earned a starting role and played 86 minutes in the matchday 30 clash at the Max-Morlock-Stadion, delivering a composed and influential performance.
Paderborn were stunned early as Mahir Emreli fired the hosts ahead just two minutes into the game. However, the visitors responded strongly, levelling the score in the 20th minute through Tjark Scheller. The first half ended 1-1.
Shortly after the break, Ansah gave Paderborn the lead in the 49th minute. The Ghanaian forward showed great composure to slot home a fine finish after being set up by Aaron Zehnter. Sven Michel then extended the advantage with a goal in the 77th minute, sealing the win despite Nürnberg pulling one back late in the contest.
Ansah’s latest goal takes his tally to six goals and five assists in 30 Bundesliga 2 appearances this season, underlining his growing importance to Paderborn’s campaign.
