Ghanaian forward Eugene Ansah put in a stellar display on Saturday, scoring in FC Ashdod’s dominant 4-1 home win over Hapoel Hadera in Round 30 of the Israeli Premier League.
The 30-year-old attacker, who joined Ashdod in February, was instrumental in the comeback victory, finding the net early to help his side recover from a shaky start.
Hapoel Hadera stunned the home crowd just seven minutes into the match when Jose Cortes opened the scoring. However, Ashdod responded immediately, with Ansah calmly slotting home the equalizer just a minute later to level the score.
Ashdod took control soon after, as Israel international Mohamad Kanaan put them ahead in the 15th minute. Despite their early dominance, the first half ended with the score tied.
In the second half, Ashdod returned with purpose. Kanaan netted his second of the game in the 64th minute, and Noam Mucha wrapped up the scoring with a stoppage-time goal to seal an emphatic 4-1 victory.
Ansah has now scored two goals in nine league appearances since joining the club, continuing to make his presence felt in the Israeli top-flight.
