The German fifth-tier outfit have announced the capturing of the 21-year-old midfield enforcer of Ghanaian descent from their fellow lowly division nemesis ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window

German-born Ghanaian youngster Yaw Osei Awuah has joined  Oberliga Niederrhein club SpVg Schonnebeck for the 2026/27 football season, the club have confirmed.

The FSV Duisburg U17 star is linking up with the Schetters Bush Stadium campaigners on a free transfer after exhausting his deal with fellow lower division rivals ESC Rellinghausen this summer.

ln announcing the deal, the Essen-based club have said of the capturing of the Ghana-prospect defensive midfielder: ''SpVgg Schonnebeck is pushing ahead with its plans for the upcoming season and is pleased to welcome Yaw Osei Awuah as its latest signing. The 21-year-old midfielder joins the club from Landesliga side ESC Rellinghausen.

''Despite his young age, Yaw Osei Awuah already has considerable experience. He has made 83 appearances for ESC Rellinghausen in the Landesliga (sixth tier). Furthermore, as a youth player for FC Kray, he has already made eight appearances in the Oberliga Niederrhein (fifth tier). The Schonnebeck sports club looks forward to the time together and warmly welcomes Yaw Osei Awuah to Schetters Busch.''

Sporting director Christian Leben has told the club's official website: ''With Yaw, we're gaining a defensive midfielder who, despite his young age, already possesses a very mature understanding of the game. He anticipates situations early, quickly recognizes spaces, and uses them very effectively both in winning the ball and in building up play. As a left-footer, he gives our midfield additional versatility and balance. He fits the profile we were looking for in our central axis perfectly. We're delighted that he wants to take the next step with us.”

Awuah took in 26 appearances for ESC Rellinghausen across all competitions in this just concluded 2025/26 football season.

Given his Ghanaian heritage, the Essen-born native remains fit to switch nationality and play for the Ghana national football team at the senior level on the international scene.
