Ghanaian defender David Acquah emerged as the match-winner for FC Aarau, scoring a dramatic stoppage-time header to secure a 2–1 away victory over FC Vaduz in the Swiss Challenge League.
The centre-back produced the decisive moment in the 90+4th minute, rising highest to power home a crucial header and complete a spirited comeback performance. His all-round display also earned him one of the highest match ratings on the pitch.
Aarau had earlier taken control of the contest when Shkelqim Vladi opened the scoring in the 37th minute, finishing clinically after sustained pressure from the visitors.
However, Vaduz responded just before the interval through Milos Cocic, who struck in the 45th minute to send both sides into half-time level at 1–1.
The second half saw the hosts grow into the game, but Aarau remained dangerous throughout, registering more shots and spending more time in the opposition box. Their attacking persistence ultimately paid off late on when Acquah delivered the decisive blow.
Ghanaian midfielder Daniel Afriyie also featured for Aarau, helping the team manage the closing stages and secure all three points.
The victory extends Aarau’s positive momentum as they prepare for their next Challenge League fixture away to FC Yverdon-Sport on Friday, May 15.
