The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is holding discussions with Union Berlin striker Ilyas Ansah regarding a potential switch to represent the Black Stars at international level.
Ansah, 20, has featured for Germany's U20 and U21, respectively, but remains eligible for Ghana through his paternal lineage. The forward is regarded as a promising talent, noted for his height, link-up play and finishing ability.
Kickgh.com sources indicate that the Black Stars’ technical team has identified Ansah as part of its long-term plans as preparations continue toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ansah currently plays alongside Derrick Arthur Kohn at Union Berlin, with Kohn recently making his debut for Ghana after opting to represent the West African powerhouse.
Talks between the player’s representatives and the GFA are understood to be progressing positively, with officials hopeful the teenager will commit his international future to Ghana in the coming months.
If the switch is confirmed, Ansah would add to Ghana’s growing pool of young Europe-based players pushing for places in Otto Addo’s squad ahead of the World Cup.
