Former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has heaped praise on Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo, insisting the Bournemouth attacker is good enough to start for any of the Premier League’s traditional top six clubs.

Semenyo has been in sensational form at the start of the 2025/26 season, scoring six goals and providing three assists in eight league games for Bournemouth. His explosive performances have drawn widespread attention and sparked conversations about whether a move to a bigger club could soon be on the horizon.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor urged top Premier League sides to consider making a move for the in-form Ghana international, claiming he is performing at a level above many of his positional peers at elite clubs.

“I look at the league table and name me a team he doesn’t start for on that left-hand side. Name one,” Agbonlahor said.

“He’s better than [Manchester City’s] Jeremy Doku. He starts for Arsenal if Eberechi Eze plays in that number 10 position. He’s better than Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. Better than Cody Gakpo at Liverpool. Starts for Spurs.”

The 25-year-old forward signed a new long-term contract with AFC Bournemouth in July 2025, extending his stay at the Vitality Stadium until June 2030. Reports suggest the deal includes a £75 million release clause, underscoring the club’s determination to keep hold of their star man amid growing interest.

Semenyo has become one of Bournemouth’s most influential players since joining from Bristol City in 2023, and his impressive form this season has further cemented his reputation as one of Africa’s brightest attacking talents in the Premier League.
