It was a bitter return to action for Ghana international Lawrence Ati-Zigi at FC St. Gallen as they were humiliated 4-1 by FC Lugano in the Swiss Super League on Sunday at the AFG Arena.

After sitting on Ghana's bench at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast, Ati-Zigi was back in St. Gallen's starting eleven for the round 20 game against the Black and Whites.

But it was a bad day to forget for Ati-Zigi as the away side put four goals past him.

Jonathan Sabbatini opened the scoring for Lugano in the 45th minute before Mihailo Stevanović equalized for St. Gallen.

However, Slovenian forward Žan Celar scored two powerful goals in the 73rd and 90+3' minutes to seal the victory for Lugano.

Five minutes into the match St. Gallen midfielder Lukas Görtler was shown a red card. Uran Bislim scored Lugano's third goal in the 80th minute.

The defeat to Lugano leaves St. Gallen second in the 12-team league table on 36 points.
