Manager of French Ligue 1 side Le Havre, Luka Elsner has lauded the contribution of Ghanaian international Andre Ayew in their fightback draw over the weekend.

The Navy Blues managed to hold FC Lorient to a pulsating 3-3 draw in a thrilling encounter over the weekend- a tie they trailed on three occasions.

After a disastrous AFCON campaign, Black Stars captain Andre Ayew returned to excel very well for his club despite not making the starting line up.

The 33-year-old was brought on in the 70th minute and fifteen minutes after his introduction, he scored his first before scoring again at the death to salvage a draw for his side.

Speaking after the game, the Slovenian manager praised Andre Ayew for his impact and feels he can lead the team and generally praised the mentality of his charges.

"Andre is capable of leading the group, after a disillusionment at the AFCON (with Ghana)," said the manager after the game.

"I am amazed by the ability of my team, who managed to come back twice. It was a difficult match for us, difficult to prepare for and difficult in content," the manager said as he reacted to the performance of his players.

"We went through a period after our first goal where we didn't do what was necessary to put Lorient in difficulty, who almost took the upper hand afterwards. We have a real talent on the team. This point of the draw taken is extremely important in the race to maintain. Even if when you concede three goals after leading the score, there are things to review."

Andre Ayew will hope for a starting berth when they travel to AS Monaco in the next round of matches on Sunday, February 4, 2024.
