Ghanaian striker Ibrahim Sadiq continued his impressive scoring run for BK Hacken as he found the back of the net once again in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers on Wednesday.
At the Bravida Stadium in Gothenburg, Hacken secured a 3-1 victory over Welsh side The New Saints in the first leg of the first qualifying round.
Sadiq, a former Ghana U17 and U20 player, opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a brilliant individual finish. Shortly after, Danish midfielder Mikkel Rygaard doubled the lead for the Swedish champions with an assist from Kristoffer Lund.
The visiting team, The New Saints, managed to pull one back through Scottish forward Declan McManus in the 32nd minute. However, Hacken restored their two-goal advantage just before halftime with defender Even Hovland finding the back of the net.
Despite their dominance in the second half, Hacken couldn't add to their goal tally.
The second leg of the tie will take place next week, as The New Saints host Hacken at Park Hall in Wales.
With his goal in this match, Sadiq has now scored a total of 11 goals in 12 appearances across all competitions since the start of the 2023 season.
