The Italian second-tier side have said the Black Stars forward has undergone a successful surgery after suffering from an injury during a training session earlier this month 

Ghana centre-forward Felix Afena-Gyan has had a "perfect success" of surgery to his fifth metatarsal fractured left foot, with "physiotherapy programme" expected to begin soon towards his recovery, his club US Cremonese have announced.

The 20-year-old was operated by Professor Francesco Benazzo at the Poliavventura Foundation of Brescia in the presence of the Grigiorosso head of medical team, Diego Giuliani.

After going under the knife, the former AS Roma frontman is expected to soon start with his rehabilitation programme in a bid to return to the pitch earlier than expected.

"Felix Afena-Gyan underwent surgery to reduce the fracture in his left foot. The head of the Grigiorosso healthcare staff Diego Giuliani was present, and the operation, carried out by Professor Francesco Benazzo at the Poliavventura Foundation of Brescia, was a perfect success. Afena-Gyan will soon begin the physiotherapy program aimed at recovering the player," a statement over the Black Stars striker successful surgery reads.

He has so far featured in 2 Serie B 23/24 league campaign for US Cremonese in the ongoing football season.

Afena-Gyan has so far been capped 7 times by Ghana at the men's senior national team the Black Stars with a goal to his name.
