Former Accra Great Olympics centre-back Jamal Deen Haruna has officially sealed a sensational move to Norwegian second-tier league side Sogndal Fotball until the summer of 2027.
Deen Haruna signed a three-year contract with Fosshaugane Campus Stadium outfit after a passing a mandatory medical examination earlier today to complete his move from Raufoss IL.
The 24-year-old guardsman has been acquired by the Norwegian club following his explosive performance at Raufoss IF since joining them from Great Olympics in 2023.
He will spend the remainder of the 2024 season on loan at Raufoss IL and join his new club, Sogndal Fotball for the next season's campaign.
The club's official statement reads: “Sogndal Fotball and Raufoss Fotball have agreed on a transfer for defender Jamal Deen Haruna, born 23 October 1999! The agreement extends to the 2027 season, but he will play the rest of the 2024 season on loan in Raufoss.”
Jamal Deen Haruna began his football career at Tudu Mighty Jets before joining Wa All Stars (now Legon Cities FC) and Great Olympics in the Ghana Premier League. He left Olympics after the 2023/24 season to seal a move to Raufoss IF in February 2023.
He is currently rated among the best centre-backs in Norway since arriving at Raufoss IF and has so far made 46 appearances for the Nammo Stadium outfit.
The Ghanaian international expressed his delight after sealing the move and stated he will continue to live his dream at Raufoss IF before joining his new club in January 2025.
Speaking to the club's official website, Jamal Deen Haruna said: “I will of course give 100% for Raufoss throughout the season and help them as best I can, then I will look forward to January when I come to Sogndal. I've already met some nice people, and I'm looking forward to meeting the rest of the team,”.
