The Ghanaian goalkeeper has completed a permanent move to St Patrick’s Athletic and is looking forward to fulfilling a childhood dream with the Irish giants.

Joseph Tetteh Anang believes he has linked up with “the club where he played his best football” after trading life at England for that at Ireland.

The 'Teshie boy' saw his switch to Ireland announced on Tuesday, with the finishing touches having now been pecked in an undisclosed sign-on fee.

Tetteh Anang has passed a medical in the Irish capital and put pen to paper on a two-and-half-year contract.

The 24-year-old, who has never made any secret of his desire to return to Dublin following previous loan spell at the Saints in 2022, and he's glad to have made a swift decision on his next move after being released by West Ham United, following the expiration of his contract.

“It's very good to be back at the club.

"St Pat's is where I played most of my senior games (in my career so far), I feel I played my best football at Pat's during my loan in 2022, I really enjoyed my time here so I'm very excited.

"The move came about very naturally to be fair, I always kept in touch with Pat Jennings (GK coach) after I left, having chats back and forth. So as soon he heard that I was available, he got back in touch, and we had a conversation with Ger O'Brien and my agents about what a move back here could mean for me.

"I also had a zoom call with PJ and The Gaffer (Stephen Kenny) and that put the icing on the cake. Stephen told me about his plans for me and the style of play he wants to implement, I feel I'll fit into that and I really bought into what his plans are.

"I also want to speak about the St Patrick's Athletic supporters, they showed me a lot of love when I first came to the club two years ago, so with that factored into my decision too, coming back was a no brainer really.

"I'm delighted to get the ball rolling again and to get the deal done.”

Anang will battle with Daniel "Danny" Rogers for starting duties in the Saints in the ongoing SSE Airtricity League Premier Division this season, but the new boy will be looking to make his debut as soon as possible – with St Patrick's set to face arch-rivals Bohemians in match-day 22 fixture on Friday, June 28.
