Ghanaian youngster Gideon Otabil has sealed a loan move to Portuguese giants FC Porto from Ghanaian third-tier side Maverick SC in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The 18-year-old winger has signed a season-long loan deal with Porto, with the Portuguese club holding an option to make the transfer permanent next year.
Otabil, who can operate on either the left or right wing, will begin his journey in Portugal with FC Porto’s U19 team as he continues his development.
The move represents an important step in the youngster’s career after making his name with Maverick SC in Ghana’s lower division.
Porto will now have the opportunity to assess Otabil during his loan spell before deciding whether to exercise the option to sign him permanently.
The Ghanaian forward will hope to adapt quickly to his new surroundings and make an impression with the U19 side as he begins his European adventure.
Otabil will also be looking to use his time in Portugal to develop his game and take another step towards senior football with one of Europe’s renowned clubs.
