Portuguese second-tier league club Portimonense SC have officially announced the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Benjamin Acquah in the ongoing winter transfer window.

Acquah, who spent four seasons at Swedish club Helsingborgs IF, has been acquired by the Portimão Municipal Stadium outfit in a deal until the summer of 2027.

The 24-year-old midfielder arrived at Helsingborgs IF in 2021 on a season-long loan deal from former Ghana Premier League campaigners Ebusua Dwarfs FC before the club exercised the purchase option and made the transfer permanent.

During his stay at Helsingborgs IF, Acquah scored 12 goals in 126 appearances across all competitions.

“The last few years at this fantastic club have been an incredible journey,” Acquah said in his farewell message to Helsingborgs IF.

“It is difficult to put into words how much I have grown and learned during my time here. I would like to thank the club, the staff, and my teammates for their tireless support and for the opportunities I have been given to develop both as a player and as a person.”

“To the fans, thank you for always being there, through every up and down. Your passion and energy made every match unforgettable. This club will always have a special place in my heart,” he concluded.

Acquah is yet to feature for Ghana at any level.
