Ghanaian forward Richardson Takyi has signed for Spanish club UD Santa Marta for the 2025/26 Tercera Federación season.



The 21-year-old joins the fifth-tier Spanish side as part of his development pathway into professional football.



Takyi, a graduate of West Africa Football Academy, where he impressed with his pace and goal-scoring potential during his six years stay.


"Richardson Takyi will join Santa Marta Sports Union in this new season 2025-2026. Center striker; 1.94 meters. Scorer, powerful in airplay and one-on-one," a statement from the club on social media read.



“The Lion of Ghana”, as he is nicknamed, comes from Villaviciosa of Odón, where he has played the second half of the season. He has also played for Robledo CF during half the campaign. Good luck in your new stage, welcome to the Santa Marta Sports Union."



Takyi shared his elation after signing the deal: "Proud to announce that I have signed my first professional contract with UD Santa Marta. I want to thank the club for giving me this opportunity to continue fulfilling my dream. Thanks to everyone. Glory to God."



UD Santa Marta, based in the autonomous community of Castile and León, are aiming to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 campaign in the Spanish regional league.
