Patrick Kpodo and former Asante Kotoko duo Mudasiru Salifu and goalkeeper Razak Abalora will have a feel if Europa league football in the new season after helping FC Sheriff Tiraspol beat Armenian champions FC Pyunik to cruise into the money.
The Yellow and Blacks dropped from the Champions League qualification after losing to Czech Republic side Viktoria Plzen, having already crossed two hurdles in the prelims.
However, they made a good account of themselves in the playoff round of the Europa having eliminated FC Pyunik 3-2 via penalty shootouts, after a goalless draw in the two legs.
The Ghanaian contingent were as usual in action as Patrick Kpodo lasted the entire duration of the game and went on to score his penalty during the shootouts.
Mudasiru Salifu was introduced into the game in the extra time whiles goalkeeper Razak Abalora was excluded from the match day squad due to unknown reasons despite starting the campaign with them.
FC Sheriff Tiraspol have now qualified to the group stages of the 2022/23 UEFA Europa League and will be hoping for a tough group today, August 26, 2022 in Istanbul, where the draw will be staged.
