Ghanaian midfielder Ronald Donkor produced an outstanding display as New York Red Bulls drew 4-4 with DC United in an exciting Major League Soccer match at Sports Illustrated Stadium.

The 21-year-old scored once and set up two goals in Wednesday night’s eight-goal contest.

Donkor made the first impact after 15 minutes when he played a clever pass to young forward Julian Hall, who finished to give the Red Bulls the lead.

Just six minutes later, Donkor added the second goal himself, calmly finishing from a cross delivered from the left side.

DC United responded shortly before half-time when Tai Baribo scored to keep the visitors in the game and set up a lively second half.

After the break, Red Bulls captain Emil Forsberg created another chance, setting up Jorge Ruvalcaba to restore the home side’s advantage.

However, DC United fought back again when Jackson Hopkins pulled a goal back, before Baribo scored his second to level the match on the hour mark.

With 18 minutes left, Donkor showed his vision once more. After receiving the ball from goalkeeper Ethan Horvath, he beat his marker and delivered a fine pass to Ruvalcaba, who ran from deep inside his own half before scoring with a curling shot.

But the drama was not over. Baribo completed his hat-trick with 10 minutes remaining, ensuring DC United earned a share of the points in a thrilling encounter.
