The teenage sensation of Ghanaian parentage has penned his first professional contract with the German heavyweights following an impressive run of form with the youth ranks

Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach have announced a professional contract handed to Belgian-born Ghanaian youth centre-back Ibrahim Digberekou.

The 18-year-old, who rose through the youth ranks of the Die Borussen, attracted admiring glances from a host of suitors abroad before he finally put pen to paper for his current employers.

According to youth academy director, Mirko Sandmöller, his outfit are now happy to tie down their prized jewel given keen interest over his services by admirers.

"We are very pleased that Ibo has decided to continue his journey with us and commit to Borussia for the long term despite lots of other offers,” said Mirko Sandmöller told his club's official website. “Ibo is a great guy and has amazing qualities as a central defender, especially in tackling. Now it’s up to both us and him to further develop those qualities to prepare him for more demanding football.”

Ibrahim Digberekou is still eligible to switch allegiance and play for Ghana on the international stage despite featuring for the Belgian national youth teams.
