Ghana defender Alexander Djiku put up a clinical display to ensure Fenerbahçe secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League Third qualifying round after they defeated Lugano 2-1 at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium.
The Yellow Canaries came into the match as favorites, having shown supremacy over Lugano by winning the first leg 4-3 in Switzerland.
Djiku looked very lively on the night as he played the full 90 minutes and contributed vastly defensively as Fenerbahçe annexed a 6-4 aggregate victory.
Fenerbahçe will play French club Lille in the Third qualifying round of the UCL qualification round as they look to secure a spot in next season’s Uefa Champions League group stage.
