Ghanaian defender Caleb Yirenkyi has earned a place in the Danish Superliga Team of the Month for August after a string of outstanding performances for FC Nordsjaelland.
The 19-year-old was a key figure for the Wild Tigers throughout the month, registering one goal and an assist in five league appearances, which also saw him shortlisted for the Young Player of the Month award. He will compete for the accolade against fellow Ghanaians Prince Amoako Jr and Bismarck Edjeodji.
Yirenkyi’s inclusion in the Team of the Month underlines his rapid rise in Denmark, where his defensive solidity and attacking contributions have drawn interest from several European clubs. Although a transfer did not materialize during the summer window, he is expected to secure a move to one of Europe’s top five leagues in January if his blistering form continues.
The teenager also impressed on the international stage during the September break, producing commanding performances for the Black Stars against Chad and Mali, further cementing his reputation as one of Ghana’s most promising young defenders.
The Superliga Team of the Month also features AGF’s trio Tobias Bech, Frederik Beyer Tingager, and goalkeeper Jesper Hansen, alongside Mohamed Elyounoussi (Copenhagen), Dario Osorio and Aral Simsir (Midtjylland), Fiete Arp (OB), Hjalte Bidstrup (Viborg), and the duo of Gabriel Pereira and Andreas Oggesen.
