Ghanaian young sensation, Ernest Nuamah has been nominated for CAF Young Player of the Year accolade following his stupendous performance in the period under review.
Nuamah, who just turned 20 today, was in a blistering form and unplayable in the 2022/23 football season for Danish side FC Norsdjaelland- where he scored 15 goals and provided 4 assists in all competitions.
He was adjudged the Danish Super League best player and best young player last season and prestigiously earned himself a Golden Boy award nomination.
He joined French giants Olympique Lyon in the last summer transfer window and has a goal in six appearances so far in the Ligue 1.
With the Black Stars, he debuted against Madagascar in June and subsequently scored his first goal in a precious 2-1 win over Central African Republic in the final fixture of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in September.
The Right to Dream Academy graduate was nominated in the best young player category alongside nine other exciting youngsters on the continent namely; Nigeria's Gift Orban, Burkinabe duo of Dango Ouattara and Souleymane Alio all made cut. Morocco are highly represented by Bilal El Khannouss and Abdessamad Ezzalzouli.
Senegal quartet of Lamine Camara, Papa Amadou Diallo, Pape Diop and Amara Diouf, were all included.
Ernest Nuamah will hope to make the final nominees and subsequently win the ultimate. The 2023 CAF football awards will be held on Monday, December 12, 2023 in Morocco.
