Major League Soccer side Charlotte FC have announced the exit of former Black Stars defender Harrison Afful at the end of the just-concluded season.
Afful is leaving the American outfit upon the expiration of his contract and the club confirmed in a statement that the Ghana international is among the six players, whose contract will not be renewed for next season's campaign.
The 37-year-old made fifteen league appearances for Charlotte FC in the 2023 MLS season.
The official statement reads “Six players have had their contract option declined: Harrison Afful, McKinze Gaines, Chris Hegardt, Pablo Sisniega, Jan Sobocinski and Adrian Zendejas.”
“Everyone at Charlotte FC would like to thank all the departing players for their contributions to the Club.”
Afful, who previously played for Columbus Crew, has featured ten seasons in the Major League Soccer.
