Sumaila Awudu, Kumasi-born Ghanaian sensation, flourished once again for Clermont Foot who got held by Évian Thonon to a goalless draw at the Stade Gabriel-Montpied (annexe) last Saturday in the French National 3 division.
The versatile defender captained his side in their season opener last week to salvage a vital point at Lyon la Douchère after a pulsating 1-1 draw.
He scored another full marks this weekend and as usual always carried his duties as he should having excelled once again on the left side center-back role in a three-back system. Their solidity is the reason they don't lose even though they haven't started getting the goals.
Sumaila, marshalled the back very well with his commanding abilities to keep the rest of the backline on their toes, having read very well in every situation before getting into a tackle. He also won series of aerial and ground duels ensuring no ball gets at the back of their net.
At just 19, he is looking forward to continue flourishing as he aims at getting a call up into the Clermont Foot first team who currently compete in the French Ligue 2 as the season progresses.
Sumaila Awudu, despite having most of his career development in Mali, is very willing to represent his country of birth at any level and will gladly accept any invite from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in any of our men national teams.
