Former England midfielder Owen Hargreaves has lauded Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo for his versatility and growing influence at Manchester City.
Semenyo was once again the difference-maker on Saturday, scoring the only goal in City’s narrow 1-0 victory over Leeds United in a crucial Premier League encounter that keeps the pressure on Arsenal in the title race.
Speaking after the match, Hargreaves highlighted the Black Stars attacker’s ability to adapt across multiple attacking roles, insisting he fully merits his place in Pep Guardiola’s squad.
“He deserves the opportunity to play with one of the best teams and alongside top players. He’s a fabulous footballer,” Hargreaves said.
“He can operate on the left, through the middle, on the right — today he played as a split-striker. I love watching him play. He’s versatile, athletic and a clinical finisher. Every footballer wants to reach the top, and his journey through the ranks makes his story remarkable.”
With his latest strike, Semenyo has now registered 14 goals and four assists in 27 Premier League appearances this season, underlining his importance in City’s push for silverware.
