Memphis Depay highlighted his Ghanaian roots by performing the traditional 'Adowa' dance with Jeremie Frimpong following their goals in the Netherlands' 4-0 victory over Canada in a pre-Euro 2024 friendly.

Depay, who spends each summer reconnecting with his Ghanaian heritage, scored a tap-in goal off a perfect cross from Frimpong, bringing him within five goals of Robin van Persie’s all-time record for the Dutch national team. Frimpong followed up with a sublime effort to score the second goal just seven minutes later.

To celebrate, Depay and Frimpong, both of Ghanaian descent, delighted fans with their performance of the 'Adowa' dance, a traditional dance from the Ashanti people of Ghana.

Depay explained to ESPN, "I was doing a Ghanaian dance with Frimpong after my goal. He is a Ghana boy like me. Of course we represent The Netherlands but this is in our blood."

The 'Adowa' dance is a significant cultural tradition in Ghana, performed at various ceremonies including festivals, funerals, and celebrations.
