Cagliari's young midfielder, Ibrahim Sulemana, has shared his excitement after making his debut for the Black Stars of Ghana in the 2026 World Cup qualifying game against Mali.
Sulemana made a brief but significant appearance, replacing Salis Abdul Samed in the 88th minute of the crucial match.
Ghana revitalized their World Cup qualification hopes with a triumphant victory over Mali in Bamako on Thursday night. Jordan Ayew secured a late winner, helping the Black Stars come from behind to defeat the best-ranked team in Group I, Mali.
Mali took the lead just before halftime with a goal from Kamory Doumbia, entering the break with an advantage.
Lyon forward Ernest Nuamah delivered an impressive performance, equalizing in the 58th minute. Ayew then emerged from the bench to score the winning goal in injury time.
After the game, the former Hellas Verona midfielder expressed his joy on social media, celebrating his debut in Ghana's comeback victory.
"Debut game. Important victory. Grateful for the opportunity @GhanaBlackstars #BringBackTheLove Kumasi," Sulemana wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Sulemana hopes to have another opportunity when the team faces the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Stadium on Monday, June 10, 2024.
Following this match, Ghana has moved to second place in Group I after three matches, accumulating six points and tying with group leaders Comoros. Mali and the Central African Republic both have four points each.
