The former Black Stars shot-stopper has departed the Orlando Stadium outfit after a four-year stay at the club.
South African Premier League side Orlando Pirates have announced the exit of Ghana international Richard Ofori following the expiration of his contract.
The 30-year-old was released alongside Siyabonga Mpontshane, Thabang Monare, and Kermit Erasmus, who were all deemed surplus to requirements by the technical handlers of Orlando Pirates at the end of the 2023–24 season's campaign.
The club's official statement reads: “As the football season draws to a close, we not only mark the end of our campaign but also bid farewell to some of our esteemed players.”
“Orlando Pirates can confirm that Richard Ofori, Siyabonga Mpontshane, Thabang Monare, and Kermit Erasmus will be leaving us when their respective contracts come to an end on June 30.”
“It is with a deep sense of gratitude that we reflect on the contributions of these players during their time with us.”
Ofori joined the Buccaneers from Maritzburg United in 2020 for an undisclosed fee, and he played 58 games for the club during his stay. He conceded 36 goals and kept 30 clean sheets.
However, he lost his place in the team due to injuries and made only three appearances for Orlando Pirates in this season's campaign.
The former Wa All Stars goalie helped Orlando Pirates clinch the South African MTN8 Cup on three occasions.
Ofori has capped 28 times for the senior national team of Ghana, and his last appearance was at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
