Dutch-born Ghanaian forward Elton-Ofoi Acolatse has completed a major move in Hungarian football, joining league champions Ferencváros from fellow top-flight side Diósgyőri VTK.

The 30-year-old winger leaves Diósgyőr after two and a half impressive seasons, where he became one of the club’s most important players.

Since arriving in 2023, Acolatse has scored 16 goals and made 17 assists in 70 league games. This season, he has been in great form, notching eight goals and managing eight assists in 18 matches, which attracted the attention of the league’s top team.

Acolatse is a graduate of the famous Ajax academy, where he spent several years developing before making his senior debut for the club’s reserve side.

He has played in several European countries, including Belgium with Westerlo, Club Brugge and Sint-Truiden, as well as Israel with Hapoel Be’er Sheva and Turkey with Bursaspor.

At youth international level, he represented the Netherlands, famously scoring a late equaliser in the 2012 European Under-17 Championship final against Germany before netting his penalty in the shootout win.

For Ferencváros, the signing is pivotal as they look to defend their league title and push for success in European inter-club competition during the second half of the season.
