The 24-year-old winger of Ghanaian heritage insists he is staying put at the MHPArena beyond this term as he has been taken aback by the offer tabled before his services by the English top-flight outfit in this winter window

German-Ghanaian winger Jamie Leweling has expressed ''shock'' about the €40m bid from Premier League side AFC  Bournemouth for his services this January.

With the departure of free-scoring Ghanaian wing-forward Antoine Semenyo this winter, the former Union Berlin wideman became a central transfer target for the Cherries as they pushed hard to replace their star man with his signing from Bundesliga outfit VfB Stuttgart after tabling the aforementioned figure over his pursuit.

Nonetheless, the Die Roten and their jewel asset quickly rejected the advances of the Dean Court campaigners given their determination to see off the current campaign in the German top-flight this season.

ln reaction to the interest expressed in him by the English club, the ex-FC Nürnberg youth man has once again reiterated his stance on staying put at VfB, with the transfer fee becoming the talk of the town over the deal this January.

ln an interview with German tabloid BILD, Nartey said: ''Of course I'm aware of it, that's normal in football. What I can say is: I'm staying here. That's definite. That's why I quickly put the matter to rest.''

He added: ''I was a bit shocked, but that's the football business. Five months ago, I never would have thought anyone would be willing to pay that much for me.''

Sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth added to DAZN: ''Jamie said it: he absolutely wants to stay, he wants to put himself in contention for the World Cup squad. Our CEO said it too. Not to mention me. These statements were pretty much unambiguous. It's pretty much a done deal that he's staying with us.''

Leweling has so far proven to be a central figure in manager Sebastian Hoeneß's set-up this term having netted 6 times and assisted 7 in 27 games across all competitions in this 2025/26 football season.

He remains unfit to represent Ghana on the international stage after playing for the Germany senior national team, with four caps to his name so far in his international career.
