Ghana international Tariq Lamptey has revealed his admiration for Brazilian and Barcelona legend Dani Alves, describing the veteran right-back as one of his biggest sources of inspiration.
Speaking during his official unveiling at Fiorentina, Lamptey explained that Alves’ illustrious career and style of play influenced his development as a modern full-back.
“I draw inspiration from Dani Alves,” Lamptey said, while also naming Alves’ former Barcelona teammate as his ultimate role model. “I grew up watching him, but my idol is Ronaldinho.”
Alves, widely regarded as one of the greatest right-backs in history, remains one of the most decorated footballers of all time, having won numerous domestic, continental, and international titles.
Lamptey joined La Viola from English Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion during the summer transfer window, signing a four-year contract.
“Every team presents a different challenge, and that helps me improve as a player. Fiorentina have been following me since I was young—it’s beautiful,” the 23-year-old added.
“Yes, there were other offers, but when Fiorentina explained their project to me, I didn’t think twice. I wanted to come right away.”
The Ghana defender made his Serie A debut at the weekend against Napoli, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Italy.
