Chelsea have announced that young defender Genesis Antwi has signed a new three-year contract, with an option for a further two seasons, committing his long-term future to the club.
The 18-year-old, who has been part of the Blues’ academy setup since the under-12 level, has been rewarded for his steady progress with a deal that keeps him tied to Stamford Bridge as he continues his development.
Antwi, born in Sweden to Ghanaian parents, is widely regarded as one of the most promising defensive talents to emerge from Chelsea’s youth system in recent years. He made his first-team debut in European competition last season, featuring twice in the UEFA Conference League, where his composure and maturity impressed the club’s technical team.
Though yet to make his Premier League debut, Antwi has been a consistent performer for Chelsea’s under-21 side, with the club confident that he has the qualities to transition smoothly into senior football.
The deal aligns with Chelsea’s current strategy of securing their brightest young prospects on long-term contracts before gradually introducing them to top-flight action.
While the Blues have not set a specific timeline for his Premier League bow, Antwi’s early European experience and involvement with Sweden’s U-19 national team signal that he is being carefully groomed for a bigger role in the seasons ahead.
