Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has expressed disappointment following Leicester City’s relegation to League One, despite enjoying a strong individual season in front of goal.

The 22-year-old Ghana national team forward returned to Ghana on Sunday ahead of his unveiling as an ambassador for Rush Energy Drink, where he also reflected on a difficult campaign with the Foxes.

Issahaku scored 16 goals in the Championship this season, but his efforts were not enough to prevent Leicester’s drop.

Speaking on arrival at the Accra International Airport, he admitted mixed emotions over both his performance and the team’s outcome.

“I feel amazing,” he said. “Actually, it is not good because I am a team player. It is not feeling good with the position we are in.”

“I feel happy with my performance, but I should have done better.”

Meanwhile, uncertainty surrounds his future at the King Power Stadium, with several clubs reportedly monitoring his situation ahead of the summer transfer window.

Interest is believed to be coming from Premier League sides as well as Turkish clubs Trabzonspor and Fenerbahçe, who are said to be keen on the former Sporting CP attacker.

His next move is expected to be one of the key transfer stories of the summer.
