Black Princesses skipper Stella Nyamekye has shared excitement after her move to National Women's Soccer League side Gotham FC and added she is ever ready for the challenge ahead. 

The 19-year-old joined the Butts on a three-year deal with an option for another which will see her stay at the Sports Illustrated Stadium until 2028.

Reacting to the move, Stella expressed elation towards her new chapter and is very ready and poised to embrace the task ahead.

“I’m beyond excited to be joining Gotham FC and stepping into a new chapter of my career,” Nyamekye said. “I can’t wait to play on a team that has been so successful over recent seasons and alongside incredible players I’ve admired from afar. I’m ready to work hard and embrace the challenge ahead. See you all soon!”

“I’m ready for this challenge,” she added. “The team’s success and the players here are incredible, and I’m excited to contribute and learn from them.”

The young-sensation has been with Dreamz Ladies since 2021 and has been a revelation following her consistent high level performances for the club and the country's various women national team. 

Stella Nyamekye captained the Ghana U-20 side at the 2024 FIFA Women’s World Cup, starting in all three group-stage matches - tallying two goals and one assist.

Prior to the World Cup, Stella also starred and played an instrumental role to help the Black Princesses win gold at the African Games and also emerged champions of the maiden WAFU U,-20 Girls Cup.

The mercurial playmaker at just 18, made her Black Queens debut in a 3-0 win against Benin on February 19, 2023.

The deal is pending receipt of her P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate.
