Andre Ayew has disclosed that working with Matthew Amoah at NAC Breda is really a great opportunity for him as he is someone he’s been looking up to from their days together in the Black Stars.
The 36-year-old has been out of competitive action since the commencement of the 2025/26 football season but has finally returned having joined the Yellow-Blacks on a short term deal with an option to extend.
Andre, after the debut against FC Groningen, had his second and played at home for the first time when he once again came on as a substitute for NEC Nijmegen in the Eredivisie.
In an interview with the club’s media team, the former Black Stars captain, who played together with Matthew Amoah in the national team, honored him and is hoping to follow in his footsteps at the Rat Verlegh Stadion.
“For me, it’s a great opportunity. What he has done for this club and his career is top. When I was growing up in the youth team, he and Asamoah Gyan were the strikers we looked up to. To be here with him at a club he knows inside out is beneficial. He’s a big brother who can guide me on how the city and the fans think."
NAC Breda are currently sitting in 17th place with 14 points and will travel to league leaders PSV Eindhoven.
