Ghanaian defender Alidu Seidu has expressed his privilege and delight in signing with French Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais.

The versatile 23-year-old completed the transfer from fellow French top-flight side Clermont Foot for a reported fee of around €11 million.

Having fulfilled his mandatory medical checks after returning from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where he had limited playing time, Seidu has committed to a four-year contract that will run until 2028.

In his statement following the official announcement of the deal, Alidu Seidu conveyed his enthusiasm for the move, emphasizing the significance of joining a prestigious club like Stade Rennais.

“Stade Rennais is a great club and it's a great privilege for me. I had a great time at Clermont; they gave me everything and welcomed me like a member of the family. I became a man there, and the adventure continues at Rennes, and I'm very happy about that," said Seidu.

Known for his competitive spirit and commitment to continuous improvement, Seidu expressed his determination as a player, stating, “I'm a player who doesn't like to lose, I'm a fighter, I give everything for my colleagues, and I'm always looking to progress.”
