Joseph Paintsil continued his impressive return to form by getting on the scoresheet as LA Galaxy played out a 1-1 draw with Vancouver Whitecaps in Major League Soccer on Saturday night.

The Ghana international, who recently recovered from injury, is gradually regaining top form and has now contributed two goals and two assists in seven league appearances this season.

After a quiet opening half, the game came to life shortly after the restart. Paintsil broke the deadlock with a composed finish, latching onto a well-timed pass from Lucas Sanabria to give the hosts the lead.

LA Galaxy looked set to claim all three points, controlling much of the second half, but the visitors struck late to snatch a result. With nine minutes remaining, Mathías Laborda rose above the defence to head home the equaliser for Vancouver Whitecaps.

The match also featured Emmanuel Afriyie Sabbi, who played for the Whitecaps as they fought to earn a valuable point away from home.

Paintsil’s growing influence will be encouraging for both club and the Ghana national team, as he begins to rediscover the attacking sharpness that made him one of LA Galaxy’s standout performers last season.

The result keeps LA Galaxy’s campaign on a steady path, while Vancouver Whitecaps maintain their competitive position in the Western Conference standings.
